Serving as a Pastor within a local ministry context
To be eligible to serve as a Pastor you need to have been a confirmed member or member-in-association for 12 months prior to application.
A person who offers to serve as a Pastor in a local ministry context does so in response to the identification by a Church Council, and approval by a Presbytery, that a position is suitable for ministry of Pastor.
Training for people serving as Pastors is competency based. There are Core Competencies which all will be expected to meet and General Competencies which are specific to the ministry role being undertaken.

Serving as a Pastor in an approved placement (through the Advisory Committee on Ministry Placements - ACOMP)
A person who offers to serve as a Pastor in an approved placement makes application through the Synod’s Ministry of Pastor Committee.
To be eligible to serve as a Pastor a person needs to have been a confirmed member or member-in-association for 12 months prior to application.
