...every learner
matters...
The ELM Centre has for more than 25 years been the lay
education centre of the NSW Synod of the Uniting
Church, conducted by the Board of Education as a
partner in the Centre for Ministry.
Our mission is:
To advocate
model
and resource
best-practice
all–of–life
every-member
education
for the Uniting Church in Australia (NSW & ACT
Synod).
Despite the serious nature of its aims, taking a course
at the ELM Centre is often fun. It is an opportunity to
enjoy the company of like-minded people focused on a
single issue or common theme.
ELM provides resource education for those seeking greater depth and understanding in how to live out their faith — both within the Christian community and within the world. Course delivery varies from one–offs to a series of weekly sessions. Some courses are offered in Intensive Format (4–6 days in a row) or Extensive Format (2 weekends, about a month apart). A clear philosophy of adult education underpins all our courses.
ELM's effective approach to sharing knowledge and experiences, utilises gifted course leaders from within and beyond the Uniting Church. The ecumenical tone of these courses attracts participants from other denominations and traditions, catering for a wide variety of needs.
Those taking an ELM course are participants — their contributions to the course are more often than not an integral part of proceedings. This chance to share oneself in a small group situation is an essential part of instilling confidence in your abilities to express your faith in accessible ways in everyday life.
The ELM Centre welcomes suggestions for new courses and invitations to arrange programs in a local congregation.
